Slow down and explore British Columbia

Biking keeps you close to the Earth and slows down the pace so that you can notice the little things that can change your life and the way you see the world. It’s a great way to explore and the Legends and Landscapes Adventure Company offers great bike trips into the alpine, rainforests and one of Canada’s wonders, the Kettle Valley Railway.

With our support van, our bike trips are easy, fun and at your own pace. Stop when you want, have a chat, be inspired by the view or let a waterfall move you. Enjoy rides along quiet roads in pristine landscape - no rushing, no pressure, no limits – and bring your camera!
The Kettle Valley Railway
At Legends and Landscapes we offer trips along the Kettle Valley Railway (KVR) an abandoned railway bed that winds through south central British Columbia between Midway and Hope. It is after all a typical railway bed with grades that never exceed 2.2 %. With countless trestles and tunnels, and environs ranging from cool mountain forests to Canada's only pocket desert the 600 km route offers an endless diversity of experiences.

This corridor is one of the most dynamic routes in Canada, with some truly impressive scenery and spectacular views. The easy grade in most sections makes it suitable for either casual family cycling or easy day riding.

Rock Ovens and the Naramata Bench Winery Tour
7 hours - $180*
This bike tour travels through one of the most beautiful landscapes in British Columbia. The Kettle Valley Railway from Penticton made its way to Naramata, and onto Arawana. At the old Glenfir Station is Rock Ovens Park and an old growth stand of pine trees, here is the site of the last surviving oven made from stones. Crude but effective, these ovens were built to bake bread for the small army of men that was needed for the construction of the railway. This bike tour includes two tunnels and a chance to visit Chute Lake Lodge which contains the history of it's origins as an important stop on the KVR where a water tower once stood. The lodge itself is a step back in time. The restaurant houses a collection of antiques. But the real treasure is found out back where there is a great collection of KVR antiques. Great views of the valley and lake abound as we arrive at Naramata Bench, here some of the finest vineyards produce award winning reds and whites at wineries such as Red Rooster and Hillside. Here we will walk through vineyards and do some wine tasting. There are 23 wineries on the bench and a must destination for any foodie or connoisseur singletracker. This tour contains about 22km of moderate cycling with lots of stops along the way.

Summerland to Osprey Lake
7 hours - $180*
Through the Trout Range of the Okanagan Highlands this part of the Kettle Valley Railway links Summerland with Princeton and between is Osprey Lake one of a number of small lakes and creeks that the KVR meanders alongside. This is a great day tip that offers a chance to get away from the crowds. We’ll partake in a scenic tour through Trout Creek Canyon enroute to the trailhead and a chance to bike nearly 20 kilometers past three lakes and spectacular views. This trip offers a great chance to view wildlife and represents an easy cycle with lots of rest stops that includes Osprey Lake and Chain Lake.

Ask us about added value like a ride on the Kettle Valley Steam Railway.

The Fraser Canyon and the Othello Tunnels
7 hours - $200*
This scenic tour offers walks and bike excursions that includes historical sites in the Fraser Canyon and a journey through the Othello Tunnels. We’ll mix the Cariboo gold Rush Trail with the Kettle Valley Railway. The KVR was built over three mountain ranges.   In the Coquihalla Gorge - the river cut a 300 foot deep channel of solid granite.  A straight line of tunnels were built through it which are known now as the Othello Tunnels.  There are spectacular viewing opportunities available on the trail, through the tunnels and on the bridges. The canyon and five tunnels are easy to navigate and have become a favourite location for movie producers. We’ll explore other sites like Hells Gate and the Alexandra Bridge and we’ll do our fair share of watching Eagles fishing in the mighty Fraser River.

Ask us about added value like biking the upper Cascade Mountains, Silvertip or perhaps whitewater rafting on the Fraser River,

Sawtooth Range Rainforests and Alpine
8 hours - $230*
Whether its biking or hiking we offer some great trail choices in the Monashee Mountains. Here we’re away from the crowds amidst old-growth stands of cedar and hemlock forest and extensive rolling alpine and subalpine meadows. These landscapes combine to form excellent habitat for deer and elk. Paintbrush Ridge, Tsuis Mountain, Rainbow Falls and Monashee Provincial Park are a few of the attractions that will inspire your life. We shuttle you to summits for a downhill ride and cool rest stops. This excursion is a great sightseeing trip too and from trailheads and a chance to experience the source of the Shuswap River and where the Okanagan transforms into the peaks of the Monashee – the mountains of peace.
