Legends & Landscapes specializes in the organization of small group treks and inspirational expeditions into the British Columbia interior mountainous areas.

Our journeys range from gentle day treks with cultural visits to challenging expeditions exploring some of the most remote areas in Canada. We offer Charity Adventure Challenges in the backcounty which is a good way of achieving a challenging objective for active people as well as raising funds for a charity of your choice.

Our treks are high quality, environmentally and ethically sound trekking expeditions at great value. For our treks into the Monashee we have great base-camp at the Wildcraft Forest which allows for day treks into the Monashee Foothills and the remote alpine.
Coyote Sleeping Walkabout
Inside the Spirit of an Ancient Volcano
9 hours - $149*
The mixed forest areas of the BC Interior not only present a stunning landscape of rock, meadows and forest but also rich in wildlife and bird viewing. The valley and foothills areas represent ancient migration corridors for both animals and people. On this expedition we will examine an ancient volcanic vent, which created the mountain Coyote Sleeping (The Camels Hump). We will explore diverse ecosystems, which bridge rainforests and dry interior habitat as well as a bottomless lake left over from the last ice age. This adventure includes a trek to the summit of the mountain which has spectacular views and is considered a “power point” by the ancient people who kept it sacred.

Exploring Ancient Rainforest
The Wonder of Water and a Great River
9 hours - $149 per person
The Shuswap River Watershed is one of the primary sources for the great Fraser River water system. This expedition follows the Shuswap into its headwaters area. As our plant changes water changes its behaviour in high mountain areas. This trek will examine the spirit of water and how a watercourse evolves. We will explore old growth rainforests and subalpine lakes and wetlands.

Alpine in the Monashee
Exploring the Rawhide Trail in the Granby
12 hours - $190*
Explore the spectacular landscape that links old growth rain forests with the alpine of the Monashee. This region is home to a number of species at risk. Our observations will include the sensitive habitat of species at risk. Incredible landscape and views as we walk through remote alpine areas. We’ll explore the Rawhide Trail near Lightening Peak in Granby Provincial Park.  This pristine park encompasses the headwaters of the Granby River and several adjacent basins. The long, narrow valley is the last large, unroaded drainage in the Southern Interior. Its lower forested drainage includes old-growth stands of cedar and hemlock forest. Extensive rolling alpine and subalpine meadows are protected at higher elevations. These landscapes combine to form excellent habitat for deer and elk. Dragon Flats grassland meadow complex is very unique. One red-listed plant is present, the Nettle-leaved giant hyssop. The park protects some of the best grizzly bear habitat in the southern Monashee Mountains. The steep valley and adjacent drainages are habitat for mountain goats. Cougar, lynx and bobcat are also found in the park. Wolverine and martin round out the list of predators. The red-listed speckled dace is a fish species found only in the Kettle and Granby River drainages.

The Undiscovered Country
Bushwacking – Following the footsteps of  Explorers and Surveyors
12 hours - $190*
Bushwacking is the art of traveling by foot through unmapped areas, often by following animal trails but also without the aid of a trail. Early explorers and surveyors attempting to navigate the mountainous regions of North America remains a wonder of the modern age. On this expedition we will follow the steps of George Dawson one of the first to map the Monashee and the Okanagan as well as the early routes of prospectors and First Nations People.

Join Legends & Landscapes for memorable treks into the backcountry  mixes great storytelling, natural attractions and wildlife viewing.
